Amhurst Park.—Junior Boys' Department.
This school is in an extremely dirty condition. The walls are
dirty and covered with a thick layer of dust.
Main Room.- The floor has been repaired. This room is subdivided
for three classes by means of screens. The type of screen
provided is unsatisfactory and should be replaced by movable wooden
screens.
Several window panes are broken.
Lavatories.- Two additional W.C.'s have been placed at the disposal
of the scholars. These are satisfactory. The pan of the outside
W.C. is foul and the urinals are in the same condition.
Playground.—This is unpaved and as there are no ashbins, cinders
and waste paper are dumped in a heap in the -playground.
Deaf School.
The flooring throughout the school is bad, being worn in places,
and irregular.
Classrooms.—Rooms B. and 4 are very low, their height being
only 7½ feet.
There is no teachers' room.
Cloakrooms.—The girls' cloakroom has no proper washing accommodation,
nor are there any means of drying clothing. There are
not sufficient pegs for the girls' clothing. The boys' cloakroom is also
the caretaker's scullery.
Playground.- This is unpaved and very muddy and wet after rain
or dusty in dry weather.
