INTRODUCTION.
School Medical Department,
Town Hall,
Tottenham.
March, 1920.
To the Chairman and other Members of the Tottenham Education .
Committee.
Miss Gowan and Gentlemen,
In submitting to you the Annual Report upon the School
Medical Services for 1919, I would direct your attention particularly
to the volume of work that has been accomplished by your staff. This
has been contributed to, in great measure, by the facilities your Committee
have placed at the disposal of your hea'th officers, and, especially,
in making available to them the greater part of Bruce Castle. A very
large minor ailments clinic has, during the year, been established there,
and in some measure has relieved the congestion at the Town Hall
clinic.
An X-Ray clinic has been set up and1 it is hoped that, if ringworm
of the scalp is not exterminated altogether from Tottenham
children, at least, it will not prove a cause of prolonged absence from
school.
My two lady assistants have devoted themselves so assidiously
to their duties that they have overtaken the arrears for 1918 and the
whole of the work for 1919 for which they are responsible.
Your Committee's attention is directed also to the new departure
in relation to remedial exercises for minor deformities.
That so much has been accomplished during 1919 is a triute to
the splendid co-operation of the school nurses and the clerical staff,
