Meteorology of the Year.

Based on observations at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, and at various other stations, by Mr. James Glaisher, F.R.S., the Astronomer Royal.

The weather at the beginning of the first quarter was
mild, becoming colder to the middle of February, when a
warm period set in. March was alternately cold and warm
In April the weather was wet and dull with very little
sunshine. In May it was generally cold and dull, and in
June fine and bright.
From the beginning of July until the first week of
September it was generally fine, bright and warm. From
the 10th September until the end of the Quarter there was
frequent rain.
During the last Quarter of the year weather was on the
whole dull. At the beginning of December a cold period
set in which lasted until the end of the year.
