their rear. This sewer is badly constructed, has no fall, the joints
are very leaky, and it is blocked nearly its whole length. Notices
have been served on the owners, and the houses are to be redrained
into the Broadway and Hartiield Road sewers respectively.
Some of the work is now in progress.
It will be seen that a large amount of useful work has been
carried out.
I have, as in former years, to express my entire approval of
the manner in which Mr. Mayne has performed the arduous and
increasing duties which have devolved upon him, and I consider
him a very valuable officer.
