most of the working classes are housed.
Deaths.β€”The total number of deaths registered in the
district was 462 (208 males, 254 females), equal to a death
rate of 7 4 per thousand of the population per annum. This
is lower than last year's figure (8'5).

The deaths occurring outside the district of persons belonging to this Borough were 153, viz. :β€”

Others73 153

The deaths occurring within the district of persons not belonging thereto were 58, viz.:β€”

After taking these into account, the total number of deaths
properly belonging to the district is found to be 557, and the
death-rate 8 9. The rate for England and Wales for the same
period was 12'4.
The standardised death-rate for the year is 9 07. This is
obtained bv multiplying the net death-rate by the factor
for correction, 10196, which is supplied by the RegistrarGeneral
as the result of the last Census. This factor is provided
so as to make the death-rate comparable with that of
other districts and the country as a whole on the basis of a
similar age and sex distribution for Wimbledon.
