The rates for the respective Wards of the district were

As will he seen from the birth-rates for the respective
Wards, the highest rates are recorded in the Wards where
most of the working classes are housed.
Deaths.β€”The total number of deaths registered in the
district was 512 (221 males, 291 females), equal to a deathrate
of 8.5 per thousand of the population per annum. This
is lower than last year's figure (12.01).
The deaths occurring outside the district of persons
belonging to this Borough were 186, viz.: β€”

The deaths occurring within the district of persons not
belonging thereto were 64, viz.: β€”

After taking these into account, the total number of deaths
properly belonging to the district is found to be 634, and the
death-rate 10'6. The rate for England and Wales for the
same period was 13.8.
The standardised death-rate for the year is 10.8. This
is obtained by multiplying the net death-rate by the factor
for correction, l.0196, which is supplied by the RegistrarGeneral
as the result of the last Census. This factor is provided
so as to make the death-rate comparable with that of
other districts, and the country as a whole on the basis of a
similar age and sex distribution for Wimbledon.
Apart from the transferable deaths, 33 deaths of children
under one year of age were registered, and this infantile
