keepers are informed that, in the opinion of the Committee, the
following arrangements are permissible: —
Hairdressers,
Grocers, General
Shopkeepers, and
Provision Dealers,
Chemists,
Bakers,
In these trades Thursday is fixed as the
weekly half-holiday by order, but these shops
may remain open on Thursday, 18th December,
provided they are closed all day on
Christmas Day and also on Saturday, 27th
December, after 1 o'clock (Bakers after
2 p.m.), and provided further that from the
morning of Monday, 22nd December, to the
evening of Saturday, 27th December, a notice
is affixed in the shop stating that during
that week the day of the weekly half-holiday
will be Saturday instead of Thursday.
Butchers.
These shops may remain open on Monday,
22nd December, provided they remain closed
all day on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
All Shops (not exempted
by the
Shops Act) other
than the above,
whose ordinary
closing day is
Thursday.
These shops may remain open on Thursday,
18th December (if that is their closing
day), provided they remain closed all day on
Christmas Day and also on Boxing Day
after 1 p.m., and provided further that from
the morning of Monday, 22nd December, to
the evening of Saturday, 27th December, a
notice is affixed in the shop stating that during
that week the day of the weekly half-holiday
will be Friday, instead of Thursday.
