Education Act, 1902.—At the instance of the Education
Committee, the condition of the drainage of all the Elementary NonProvided
Schools (16 in number) was referred to the Medical Officer
of Health for inspection and testing. The whole of the drains were
submitted to smoke test under pressure and opened up for inspection
near their exit from the premises, and in some cases at other points in
addition. Those drains which were found not to be running clear, or
which allowed escape of smoke, were subsequently dealt with by the
Architect of the Education Committee.
