Collection of House Refuse.—The house refuse of the
Borough is collected twice a week, the receptacles being placed outside
the houses by the occupiers, and collected by the Corporation
vehicles.
The total amount collected during the 308 working days of the
year 1904 amounted to 28,173 loads, a decrease of 230 loads on the
previous year.
The shoots on which the above house refuse was deposited are
set out below:—

During the year over 1,000 loads of old ashes have been taken
away from the Beckton Road Shoot to make up a football ground
off Prince Regent's Lane, and 166 loads have been taken for
brickmaking.
