Plague.—In September, 1900, the Local Government Board,
by Order, made regulations including Plague within the list of
notifiable diseases specified in the Notification Act, 1889, and also
distributed Memoranda upon the subject, which are printed below:—
A copy of the Order was enclosed by me with a Circular Letter
to all medical men practising in the Borough.
I received notification of one suspected case of Plague in Canning
Town, which I visited; and subsequently submitted a specimen of
the patient's blood, together with a report of the case to the Local
Government Board. Fortunately, this proved not to be a case of
Pestis.
