Collection of House Refuse.—The house refuse of the
Borough is collected twice a week, the receptacles being placed outside
the houses of the occupiers, and collected by the Corporation
vehicles.
The total amount collected during the 306 working days of the
year 1900, amounted to 25,923 loads, a decrease of 712 loads on the
previous year.
This decrease is caused through abolishing the material carts that were used last year, having the iron covers removed from the vans, and tarpaulins used to cover all the vehicles collecting house refuse, so, although the loads are less, the tonnage is greater than last year.
No. of loads. | Approximate weight in tons. | Average daily collection in loads. | |
