Sewerage System.—On May 23rd, 1900, the New Pumping
Station, at Abbey Mills, commenced working, and on January 27th,
1901, the Silvertown Sewerage System, serving that portion of the
Borough south of the Docks, was diverted from the Silvertown
Pumping Station into the Metropolitan Sewer at North Woolwich.
These two dates passed off without any ceremonial, but they
