Zymotic Disease in Special Areas.—In previous years I hav-e shown, as might be expected, that the zymotic death-rate in the specially-selected areas where persons and houses are crowded together are exceptionally heavy, and in this respect the year 1900 gave higher rates than I have had occasion to publish, as may be seen from the table below:—

Meteorology.— The returns given below, extracted from the
Meteorological Reports of Greenwich Observatory, show that the
registered sunshine of the year was 1,511.4 hours, being 190.1 less
than in 1899. The hottest day was 16th July, when the temperature
reached 94; and the coldest day was 9th February, when it sank to
18°. The number of rainy days was 162; the total rainfall during
the year being 21.65 inches:—
