At my request the Town Clerk has kindly obtained particulars of
the incidence of small-pox and population from the districts above
referred to, and I am also obliged to Dr. Thresh, Medical Officer of
Health to the Essex County Council, for a Table of notifications during
the past three years.
I have tabulated below the chief particulars thus obtained,
distributing the cases to their several districts, and also placing the
totals for the Essex districts side by side with those of West Ham, so
that the totals for West Ham and for the extra-municipal districts can
be easily compared and added. Notification of infectious diseases only
came into force in 1889, but it is highly probable that the cases
allotted to previous years are correct.
Table II. shows the monthly notifications of small-pox in the
Essex districts round West Ham.
