It will have been seen that many of the provisions contained in the above Act are similar to those
contained in the Public Health (London) Act, 1891, and the Council used every endeavour to obtain the
insertion of section 42 of that Act dealing with "bad workmanship" in the repair of water-closets and
drains, but were unsuccessful. In the same manner they failed to obtain powers to prevent the opening
and carrying on of private hospitals for infectious disease without the license of the Corporation.
