SENILE MORTALITY
Of the total deaths recorded, 276, or nearly 22 per cent., were of 65
years and upwards, as compared with 19 per cent. for 1907, 17 in 1906,
and 21 per cent, in 1905.
Of the 276 Seniles, 181, or nearly 50 per cent., were 75 years and
upwards, as follows:—
In the St. James Street Ward 18 were 75 and upwards.
„ High Street Ward 15 ,, „
,, Hoe Street Ward 41 ,, ,,
„ Wood Street Ward 88 „ ,,
„ Northern Ward 24 „ ,,
15 of these were 85 years and 5 were over 90.
The following tables show the numbers and causes of death for the
whole district and the several Wards. Table X. gives the deaths in
quarters, and table XI. is a combination of Schedule B (Form of the
Medical Officers' of Health Society) and Table IV. (Local Government
Board Form).
