That less prejudice to hospital removal exists than formerly is shown
by the fact that 63 per cent. of sufferers were removed in 1904, as compared
with 50 per cent. in 1903, and the good effects from Sanatorium
isolation may be gauged from the following table. The improvement
from the year 1900 is very marked, and with a more extended use of
isolation and removal of first cases, a further decline is easily realizable.
The following; Table shows the estimated population, the
number of cases of Diphtheria and Membranous Croup, the
attack rate since 1890, and the death-rate since 1898:—
