(8) Clerical. The clerical work is carried out in the
Offices of the Public Health Department, and the
services of one clerk are specially devoted to
School Medical and Maternity and Child Welfare
Work.
CO-ORDINATION.
Arrangements for the co-ordination of the work of
the School Medical Service with that of the Health
Services:—
(а) Infant and Child Welfare.
The records obtained by visiting under the Notification
of Births Act and consultations at the Infant
Welfare Centres are transferred to the School
Medical Department and are filed with subsequent
school records. A continuous history of the child
from birth is thus obtained in the case of children
born in the district. As the School Medical Officer
acts as Medical Superintendent of the Maternity and
Child Welfare work, and two Health Visitors also
act as part time School Nurses, the co-ordination
between the two branches is satisfactory.
(b) Nursery Schools.
There are no nursery schools in the district.
(c) Debilitated Children under school age.
No clinic exists for the treatment of children under
school age, but the services of the epidemic nurse
are utilized not only for epidemic disease but for
ordinary illness when the incidence of infectious
disease is light.
