In subsequent years, it will be possible to calculate ward rates
of Infant Mortality on the registered births as the names and
addresses are now received weekly from the Registrar.
Of the infant deaths, the number due to diarrhoea and enteritis
were practically the same as last year, there was, however, a slight
increase in the deaths of premature infants and the deaths due to
diphtheria were higher.
The West and East Wards show the highest rates calculated
on the estimated total ward population.
