Baths and Washhouses Act.
Mereway Bathing Place. The Bathing Place was closed for the season on September 30th. The number of bathers attending the Bathing Place during the season is as follows: —

The above figures prove the appreciation of the public of
the increased advantages afforded.
The Bathing Place has been considerably improved and
extended.
There were three prosecutions under the Act, a conviction
being obtained in each instance.
Towards the close of the Bathing Season, a Swimming
Tournament was held, under the presidency of Dr. Murphy. A
Polo Match, Ornamental and other methods of Swimming,
together with a Demonstration in Life Saving, were the chief
events of a most successful meeting. The water has been well
patronised during the Summer, and the facilities for schools
bathing and the opportunities for safely learning the art of
swimming have been taken good advantage of.
Mortuary.
There were twenty-two bodies received into this building
during the year.
