FOOD INSPECTIONS.
980 inspections have been made by the Ward Inspectors
and the Medical Officer of Health ; the following list gives
the distribution of the visits amongst the different classes of
food purveyors :—
Butchers' Shops 423
Fishmongers' Shops 260
Fruiterers' and Greengrocers' Shops 297
The inspections are carried out at frequent but irregular
intervals and so that the shopkeepers may not be in a
position to make preparations for the Inspectors' visits, and
in such a manner as to excite as little attention as possible
from customers or passers by.
Appended is a list of the foodstuffs condemned during
the year :—
