After inspection of the premises, letters were
written to the owners pointing out the works
necessary to be done before certificates could be
granted. At Nos. 5 to 18, Ripley Villas, all the soil
pipes were repaired, the sink waste pipes trapped,
and air inlets at top ends of drain repaired. On the
completion of these alterations the certificates were
granted. No defects were found in the other houses.
The following table shows the building that has been in progress during the last five years—just upon 600 houses.

Works.—There have been no very extensive
works carried out, as for the greater part of the year
the roads have been largely in the hands of the
Tramway Contractors, but the following roads have
been made up and taken over by the Council:—
Thornhill Road, Bond Road, Ellerton Road (top end).
