Every opportunity is taken to secure the
provision of a sufficient number of manholes on
the line of each drain for inspection and cleansing
purposes, also the affixing of ventilating shafts
with proper air inlets and intercepting trap where
none have previously existed.
In every instance where the drain was laid
under a house, strong cast iron pipes coated with
Dr. Angus Smith's solution and surrounded with
six inches of Portland cement concrete have been
used.
