Surbiton Urban District Council.
TWENTY-SECOND ANNUAL REPORT
OF THE
Medical Officer of Health,
1898.
Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen,—
This, my Twenty-Second Annual Report,
deals as usual with the vital statistics of the Urban
District of Surbiton, including Tolworth, Hook
and Southborough, and of the sanitary conditions
of these localities as far as there is anything instructive
or informative. Hitherto I have not
included the deaths occurring at the Workhouse
during the year, as I ascertained that it was not
customary so to do in the other Sanitary Districts
of the County ; but as the Medical Officer of the
County Council has this year forwarded these particulars
to me, I have incorporated them with all
the other other cases occurring outside the District
due to be included, and of course excluding those
belonging to other places occurring in the Public
Institutions within our boundaries. By these
means it is ascertained that the total number of
deaths for the combined Districts during 1898 is
164.
