rooms should be cleaned and the walls limewashed.
This was done. Informed the parents that if the child
were not properly attended to should report the matter
to the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
The child has since been sent to School in a clean
condition.
1 Dirty Clothes—Foul odour. Child excluded from school,
and parents informed that unless he was kept in a
cleaner condition information would be sent to the
S.P.C.C. Child returned to School in a clean condition.
1. Incontinence. Parents written to advising consulting a
medical man. The advice was followed and the child
put under treatment.
As three cases of scarlet fever were notified, occurring in
children attending the same School, all the scholars in that department
were inspected at the School. No case was discovered there
and fortunately no other cases occurred afterwards in connection
with that School.
The exclusion of scholars suffering from notifiable diseases and
the measures adopted in connection with those cases, will be
reported in the Annual Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
Darell Road School. These excellent buildings were opened
in September. Towards the end of the year several cases of
measles occurred amongst the younger scholars.
Referring to the buildings, I notice there is no provision for
ventilation in the ceiling or roof of the main hall. This is not
necessary at present, but if the hall becomes crowded and occupied
for a prolonged period, it would be advisable to provide ventilation,
such as perforated openings in the ceiling communicating with
Boyle's ventilators on the roof. Another matter of detail is that
the doors of all the Class-rooms open inwards only.
