MEDICAL OFFICER'S ANNUAL REPORT TO THE
EDUCATION COMMITTEE.
Town Hall,
Richmond, Surrey,
7th January, 1907.
To the Chairman and Members of the Richmond Education
Committee.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to present to you a Report of the duties
performed by me during the year 1906, as your Medical Officer.
Elementary Schools. Periodic visits, and also special visits
at the request of the Teachers, have been made to the 11 Elementary
Schools (25 Departments) and children inspected and advice given.
Speaking generally, the health of the Scholars throughout the
year has been good. In most of the Schools the children look well
cared for and there is a distinct improvement in cleanliness of the
bodies and clothing of the children.
The following is a list of some of the cases dealt with by your
Medical Officer in connection with Scholars at the Elementary
Schools.

17. Suspected Ringworm. Twelve excluded from School, and
written suggestions sent to parents as to procuring
medical advice. After treatment, re-admitted to School
when considered free by Medical Officer.
2. Scabies. Excluded from School, written advice to parents
as to nature of affection and advised to procure medical
treatment. Re-admitted after treatment.
2. Suspected Measles. Excluded from School for a fortnight.
3. Suspected Whooping Cough. Children excluded from
School. Parents visited and cautioned. Kept under
observation. After ten days undoubted signs of the
