REPORT.
I.—AREA AND POPULATION.
The Urban District of Mitcham is divide! into four wards, viz.,
East, North, South and West, and has a total area of 2,914 acres.
At the time of the Census in 1921, the population was
34,711, while for 1923 it is estimated at 36,460.
The number of occupied houses in the district was:—

The number of occupied houses in each Ward was :—

The average number of persons per house is 5.0.
II.—VITAL STATISTICS.
Births.
The number of births registered during the year as belonging to
this district was 786, of which 403 were males and 383 were females,
as against 755 last year.
The birth rate for the year was 21.5 per thousand of population,
as against 20.9 last year.
The birth rate for England and Wales in 1923 was 19.7
per thousand of population.
