Report of the Sanitary Inspector.
Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to submit my Report upon the work
carried out in the Public Health Department during the year
1923, under the various Public Health Acts affecting the
Department.
Complaints received and investigated numbered 97.
348 Preliminary Notices were served and, after report to
the Council, authority was granted for the service of 76
Statutory Notices, of which it was found necessary to serve
only 29.
In a large number of cases, defects have been remedied
without the service of notices and in no case was it found
necessary to institute legal proceedings.
HOUSING AND TOWN PLANNING ACTS.
During the year, 89 houses in Prince George's Avenue and
Meadow Road was inspected in accordance with the Housing
Regulations, 1910, and although in no case was any house
found to be in such a condition as to render it uninhabitable,
in approximately 75 per cent., defects were found which called
for the attention of the owners of the premises. Notices to
remedy the ^defects were served under the Public Health Acts.
No closing order was made in respect of any premises
during the year.
POOD PREPARATION.
Special attention has been directed to premises where food
is produced or prepared. Cowsheds, of which there a,re 6 on
