ACTION TAKEN WITH A VIEW TO
SMOKE ABATEMENT
Observations have been made of the few factory chimneys in the district,
and I have had to issue cautions on one or two occasions regarding the emission
of black smoke. It was found, however, on each occasion that the trouble
was due to the non-receipt of consignments of proper fuel suitable to the
particular furnace. One or two complaints were received, but the difficulties
were soon overcome. Occasionally I have had to give verbal warnings regarding
bakehouse chimneys.
RATS AND MICE (DESTRUCTION) ACT
It has not been necessary to take formal action during the year, but on
numerous occasions advice has been sought and assistance given Wire cage
traps have been lent out to persons making application for same and have
accomplished good results. Several people also have obtained the services of
professional ratcatchers with like results.
CONCLUSION
In concluding I have to thank the Committee and my brother Officials
for the courtesy and assistance extended to me during the year in carrying
out my duties.
I am, Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
HENRY TUNBRIDGE,
Sanitary and Foods Inspector.
