open no to a narrow yard in which are w.c's, and one tap for
supply of water. A list of requirements have been sent to the
owners but there is a probable change of ownership in contemplation
and a short time is being allowed before further proceedings
are taken. There is combined drainage for these houses. Second
water tap put on and dustbins provided. Two other houses are
in somewhat better condition and are being repaired.
Fairfield North.—Ten houses distinct from the above. Only
minor dilapidations were found in three houses which are being
set right.
Elm Grove.—Thirty-six houses on either side of this road
have been inspected and attention called to lesser structural
defects. These houses are drained by combined drains running

Park Road. These drains work well. Roofs and general repairs
have been made good.
Walter Street.—Twelve houses, all poorly built and of considerable
age. The street is narrow and the houses open directly
on the footpath. General dilapidations are being set right and
the houses are being cleansed.
Elm Road.—Two houses requiring general repairs and six
others in a row with combined drainage and in need of more
extensive structural work. These houses are occupied by migratory
tenants and the owner can only pay for repairs weekly when
the rents are collected. Cleansing of rooms, paving of yards,
repair of guttering and pointing of brickwork is being done one
house at a time.
Elton Road.- Thirty-two houses in a cul-de-sac. The houses

Two of the houses have pump water, but the rest have storage
cisterns supplied with M.W.B's. water, with taps on the house
