COUNCIL LABORATORY.
The following table gives a statement of the work in the
Laboratory during the year 1914:—

There has been a steady increase in the number of bacteriological examinations made in the laboratory since it was opened on the 14th April, 1910, as shown in the following table:—

During the year under report, however, the number of specimens
examined jumped to twice that for 1913 and is practically equal to
the number dealt with in the whole of the previous three years.
The time of the Medical Officer of Health taken up by this work is
therefore becoming an important consideration.
