The Hounslow Hospital is the only voluntary hospital within
the district; it is a modern and well-equipped institution, doing
very valuable work in the district.
The number of patients treated in this hospital for the year
1914 and belonging to this district was as follows:—
In-Patients. Out-Patients.
Hounslow 181 438
Isleworth 17 81
Heston 24 56
Total 222 575
The hospital is supported by voluntary effort but in certain
cases charges are made from patients.
Other medical relief is given by various voluntary organisations
in the district as follows:—
Hounslow Central Aid Society.
Isleworth District Nursing Association.
Ellis Day Nursery.
SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES.
Water Supply.
The water supply for the district is from the mains of the
Metropolitan Water Board; the quality of water has throughout
this year been good, and the service is a constant one.
42 houses in Heston Parish are supplied from the main of
the South-West Suburban Water Co.
There were, as far as is known, at the end of the year 38
private wells from which the water was used for domestic purposes.
Six samples of water were analysed during the year. In two
cases the water was found to be contaminated and unfit for
domestic use, and as a result the use of the contaminated supply
was discontinued.
