Infant Deaths.
The total number of Infant deaths during 1914 was 98,
giving an Infant Mortality rate of 979 per 1,000 births. This
figure is less than that of 1913, which was 100.76 per 1,000 births.
The figure for this year is lower than the rate for England and
Wales for the same period (105), or 104, the rate for London.
The Infant Mortality rate, as seen in the table on page 53
(Vital Statistics), varies from 28.8 in Heston Ward, which is the
lowest, to 136 in Isleworth North Ward, where the rate is highest.
The steady reduction of the Infant Death Rate in the district during the three last Quinquennia is shewn by the following figures:—
