(8) No room was found which was being used as a
sleeping place the floor of which was more than
three feet below the surface of the part of the
street nearest to the room.
(9) No case of overcrowding was encountered.
Sections 14 and 15 of the Housing, Town Planning,
&c., Act, 1909, provides that landlords shall undertake
to keep houses, let at a rent not exceeding £16 per
annum, that is 6s. 2d. per week, reasonably fit for human
habitation. The regulation applies to this District, as
it is not in the County of London, and as it has not a
population of 50,000 inhabitants or upwards.
There are from 50 to 60 such dwelling houses in this
District.
TENEMENT HOUSES OR HOUSES LET IN
LODGINGS.
There is one such house in the District. It was
periodically inspected, and the rooms were found to be
kept in good repair.
COMMON LODGING HOUSES.
There is one in the District. It was inspected
periodically, and the special regulations were carried
out to my satisfaction.
WATER SUPPLY.
On the 1st of March the Local Government Board
forwarded a form to your Council to be filled in relating
to the water supply of this District.
