November and December, the total depth of rain in the
latter month amounting to 4'95 inches, and on 22 days
in that month more than 01 inches of rain were recorded.
The greatest fall of rain in the 24 hours was reported
on October 24th. The driest months were July and
August; this coincided with the greatest amount of heat.
VITAL STATISTICS.
In January, 1911, a letter was received from the
Local Government Board stating that the Tables for
insertion in the Annual Reports of Medical Officers of
Health would be revised and modified. The new Table I.
is so arranged that accurate corrected statistics of births
and deaths in the District can be given. The necessary
corrections are supplied to me by the Registrar-General
through the medium of the County Medical Officer.
Table II., which deals with infectious disease, is
very similar to the corresponding table last year.
Tables III. and IV. deal with causes of and ages
at death, and these have been considerably remodelled.
Statistics for Births and Deaths and of certain
causes of death for Sanitary Districts in England and
Wales will be published by the Registrar-General in his
Annual Report for 1911, and subsequent years.
INHABITED HOUSES.
In the Preliminary Census Report of 1911 the
number of families or separate occupiers is given as 552.
This number refers to April 3rd, 1911. Last year I gave
the number of inhabited houses as 554 on the June 30th,
1910. There is no great discrepancy in these numbers.
According to the rate books the number of occupied
houses on June 30th, 1911, was 559. Since April, 1911,
5 new houses have been erected in the High Street on
land formerly belonging to the Tramway Company.
