ANNUAL REPORT
Of THE
SCHOOL MEDICAL OFFICER
For 1915.
The Urban District of Finchley comprises an area of
3,384 acres, with an estimated population in 1915 of 47,812.
The staff now consists of 1 Medical Officer and 2 Nurses
(the second Nurse having been appointed in February, 1916)
and a Dentist who attends one half-day a week. The whole
of the work in connection with the Ophthalmic Clinic is undertaken
by the School Medical Officer, who also undertakes the
treatment of certain minor detects.
There arc 8 Public Elementary Schools (4 Council and
4 Non-provided), organised in 17 departments. These provide
accommodation for 5,627 children, (but 40 must be added to
this figure, the increase being due to the fact that the cookery
centre at Squires Lane School has been utilised as a class
room). The present number on the register is 4,717, with an
average attendance of 4,198, 89 per cent.
Statistical Tables.
