Many children suffering from chronic complaints have to make
regular attendances at the clinic over a period of time, and the
supervision of this comes within the teachers' activities. It is
necessary that the child should attend regularly and also that
as little time as possible be lost by the scholar at the clinic. With
a view to assisting the teacher in this work each child so attending
the clinic receives a special appointment card (vide below).
This card shows the next date when the child is due to come to
the clinic for treatment and also the time of the scholar's arrival
at and departure from the clinic. In this way the teacher knows
exactly when the child should be sent for treatment and whether
any time is wasted in the journey.

15. CO-OPERATION OF SCHOOL ATTENDANCE OFFICERS.
Any child absent from school is visited by a school attendance
officer. If the latter is satisfied that the child is ill and having
proper attention he does not interfere. if, however, the officer is
not satisfied that the child has good cause for being absent the
parents are asked to bring the child to one of the clinics, w here
the doctor decides whether the child is fit for school or not.
