CONTAGIOUS DISEASES OF ANIMALS ACTS.
The Hoard of Agriculture and Fisheries have issued many
Orders during the year, principally concerning Foot and Mouth
Disease and Rabies. Under the latter, the muzzling of dogs became
operative in the Borough. There was a reported case of
Rabies. The dog was quickly killed by the Council's Veterinary
Inspector and removed for post-mortem examination', which
proved negative.
Under the Parasitic Mange Order, 6 cases have been notified,
when the usual Notices were served and disinfecting precautions
taken to arrest the spread of the disease. No case of Swine
Fever has been reported during the year. Under the Swine Fever
(Regulation of Movement) Order, 1908, 32 signed declarations
have been received and 31 licences issued, authorising the removal
of 562 pigs into the Borough and 50 fat pigs out of the Borough.
INFECTIOUS DISEASES.
The District Inspectors visit all cases of infectious disease
notified. The sanitary arrangements of the house are examined,
and where any defect is discovered or amendment required Notice
served upon the person responsible and the work carried out under
the Inspector's supervision.
