Varicella (Chicken Pox).
245 cases were reported from the Schools.
No deaths occurred, although some of the cases I visited
were severe.
One case I saw in consultation with the Medical Attendant
was thought to be a case of Small Pox, but the course of the
disease proved otherwise.
Other Diseases.
Respiratory diseases, including Bronchitis, Pneumonia,
Pleurisy and other diseases connected with the respiratory system
accounted for 292 deaths, of which 97 were upwards of 65 years
of age.
Cancer.
108 deaths were registered as due to cancer, as compared
with 122 in the previous year. 94 of these deaths were in persons
of 45 years and upwards.
The organs most frequently affected were the abdominal
organs, viz., stomach, liver and intestines.
