which the infection is carried), the fact of going out in all kinds
of weather after the bath increases the danger, especially in those
patients having Adenoids and Enlarged Tonsils.
I have also to express my thanks to my colleagues and the
Public Health Staff generally for the support extended to me.
The Staff has been depleted by the call for "King and
Country." Dr. Brough has been granted a commission in the
Royal Army Medical Corps, Nurse Forbes (School Nurse), and
Sisters Savery and Yorke (Isolation Hospital), all of the
Territorial Nursing Force, were called up for service. Miss Kerr
(Health Visitor) has gone to Serbia as Sanitary Inspector, and
Messrs. Kendall, Worley and Baskett joined the City of London
Sanitary Corps.
I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
W. BENTON,
Medical Officer of Health.
Town Hall, East Ham.
March, 1915.
