As a result of the Inspections made, 385 contraventions were
discovered, resulting in legal proceedings being instituted in 40
instances, as follows:—
Contravening the Grocers', Provision Dealers' and
General Shop-keepers' Half-holiday Order 18
Do. Butchers' Closing Order 6
Employing children during prohibited hours 17
Failure to exhibit Notice 1
Two cases that were dismissed related to proceedings
under the Butchers' Closing Order, and referred in the first
instance to a provision dealer selling salt pork after the butchers'
