2,000 pigs. Many of them have been sent to provincial
towns and others to the London markets. There have been 3
cases of reported Swine Fever in consequence of pigs dying.
The Board of Agriculture was informed and Notices (Form "A")
were served upon the responsible persons, but in no case was
the report confirmed by the Veterinary Inspector of the Board
of Agriculture. It is now upwards of two years since a
genuine case of Swine Fever occurred in the Borough.
Glanders.—There have been two outbreaks of Glanders
during the year, affecting three horses, as compared with five
outbreaks, affecting nine horses, for the year 1910. Of the
three horses killed, two were clinical cases and one contact
animal which was mallein tested and re-acted. Post Mortem
examinations were held by the Veterinary Inspector and
glandular lesions discovered in the lungs of each horse. The
carcases were destroyed in che Council's Destructor, together
with wooden mangers, nosebags, horse cloths, and any articles
that were liable to retain infection.
Compensation has been paid in accordance with the provisions
of the Glanders and Farcy Order, 1907. Manure has
been removed and destroyed, and stables disinfected with Lime
and Carbolic Acid. Full enquiry as to the origin or cause of
the outbreak has also been made. During the year, 5 horses
have been Mallein tested, but in only one instance was there
any re-action.

a Conference was held in London to consider the urgent necessity
