BOROUGH OF EAST HAM EDUCATION
COMMITTEE.
Mr. Chairman, Mrs. Ford, and Gentlemen,
In accordance with the requirements of the Education
(Administrative Provisions) Act 1907, I beg to present my Report
on the Public Elementary Schools, the Medical Inspection of School
Children, and other duties performed for the Committee during the
year 1909.
This is the first report dealing with the Medical Inspection of
School Children, and in connection with this work I desire to
acknowledge the co-operation and assistance given by the Teachers.
I also wish to record the very able manner in which Miss
Mayman discharged the duties of School Nurse; her ability, tact, and
unfailing courtesy were invaluable in removing the difficulties
invariably associated with the initiation of new work. I regret that
her resignation was received at the end of last year, and am sure that
all acquainted with her work will share that regret.
For much information concerning Education Statistics, School
accommodation, average attendance of scholars, etc., I am indebted to
Mr. Padgett, Secretary to the Education Committee.
Yours faithfully,
G. SOW DEN, M.D., D.P.H.
