found at inspection. After a few weeks, the Nurse visits a
school, and ascertains if the necessary treatment has been
obtained. (A record of the children needing treatment is kept
at each school). If not, she visits the home, and endeavours
to get this done.
As stated on a previous page, the visits of the Nurse
accomplish more in this direction than printed notices.
The following Table gives the number of cases which had received treatment up to the end of the year:—
Diseases, etc. | No. Remedied. | Diseases, etc. | No. Remedied. |
---|---|---|---|
Adenoids | 23 | Eczema | 3 |
Enlarged Tonsils | 50 | Impetigo | 11 |
Teeth (stopped) | 2 | Bronchitis | 10 |

Defective Vision | 39 | Nasal Polypus | 1 |

Otorrhœa | 7 | Ringworm | 5 |
Corneal Ulcer | 3 | Anaemia | 4 |
Various | 15 | ||
Total | 222 |
That a total of 222 suffering children have been relieved
is no doubt satisfactory, but this only represents a very small percentage
of those needing treatment. For instance, the Table
shows that 73 children had Tonsils and Adenoids removed.
Notices were sent to 271 cases where this was badly needed.
The remainder have not received the treatment they urgently
need.
2240 children had decayed teeth ; 31 have been attended to.
