recovered, the recovery rate therefore after this operation was
82.6 per cent. Such a high percentage of recoveries is very exceptional
and is most creditable to the Staff. Three of the cases
operated on were under two years of age, while one was a
baby of twelve months.
The complications arising amongst the 244 cases of Diphtheria under treatment during the year were as follows:—

33 Patients were admitted suffering from Diphtheria associated with some other affection or disease. The following table gives particulars of these:-

ENTERIC (TYPHOID) FEVER.
During the year 23 patients were admitted who had been
notified to be suffering from this disease. The subsequent course
of the illness showed that 11 of these had been incorrectly diagnosed
and were not suffering from Enteric Fever,
