327 Scarlet Fever patients were transferred during the year
from the Hospital to the Convalescent Home, and 20 cases were
admitted direct to the Convalescent Home.
This building has recently been closed owing to its dilapidated
condition, and the old Scarlet Fever Ward on the Hospital
site has been re-opened for use as a Convalescent Ward pending
the erection of the new building.
DIPHTHERIA.
This disease was also more prevalent during the year, 244
cases being under treatment compared with 143 in the previous
year.
21 cases sent in as Diphtheria were found on admission not
to be suffering from this disease. 10 of these proved to be mild
cases of Scarlet Fever in which the rash had faded and only the
