The deaths of children under one year of age are still very
considerable.
Many samples of milk have been taken by the Inspector for
analysis, which will, I hope, help to secure good milk for these
infants.
Zymotic Death-Rate.

192 deaths were recorded from the seven principal Zymotic Diseases, and estimated on a population of 70,000, gives a Zymotic Death-rate of 2.7 per 1,000 per annum, as compared with 2.6 per 1,000 for 1897. They were as follows:—
