Scarlet Fever and Scarlatina
Were less prevalent than during 1910. Some of the
cases were, however, of a more severe type than in
that year. A severe outbreak occurred at the end
of April, 19 crises being notified. The patients with
only two exceptions were supplied with milk from a
local Dairy, and after a careful investigation, the
complaint was clearly traced to this cause.
Diphtheria and Membranous Croup.
Fortyone notifications and 8 deaths were ascribed
to these diseases. A certain proportion of suspicious
sore throats were also brought under my notice.
However, after the usual bacteriological examination
was made, it was found, that several cases were
regarded as true diphtheria.
