From the above Table (Table F), in which I have given the numbers
of Deaths due to the several causes in 1907 and 1906, and the increase or
decrease of Deaths due to the same cause in 1907, as compared with the
number obtaining in the preceding year, you will see that an increased
Mortality has occurred more specially in Deaths due to Measles, Whooping
Cough, Influenza, Phthisis, Bronchitis, Alcoholism, and Heart Diseases, and
other causes, and that only in Deaths due to Premature Birth and Accidents
has there been any marked decrease.
In Table IV. (Local Government Board Tables) the Deaths due to the
various causes are arranged under the groups of ages at which they occurred,
and in the Sub-Districts to which they belonged.
Seventeen (17) of the whole number of Deaths were registered as
uncertified, and these Deaths I have included in the last class (all other
. causes).
The Zymotic Death-rate of Residents during 1907 was 1.29 per
thousand, whilst those of the three preceding years, 1906—1904, were
respectively 1.06, 0.78, and 1.68. The epidemic of Measles and the prevalence
of Diphtheria account for the increased Zymotic Death-rate.
