A sharp outbreak of Scarlet Fever occurred in North Road and
Distillery Road, during the months of September and October, 19
cases being notified in the North Road alone. It threatened to
become epidemic, but by careful supervision it was stamped out.
The source or origin was traced to a family residing in the North
Road, where the Sanitary Inspector discovered four children suffering
from the disease. They were removed to the Hospital. Particular
attention to disinfection, etc., was immediately given in all cases.
The Council authorised proceedings to be taken against the
parents, and they were fined 20/-
